Maddy is my first puppy out of my
first breeding. She was special to me the second
she was born. The first girl born of 4 girls, after the first 2
boys came out (I was getting nervous about where the girls were!) She had that special something that sparkled out of the whelp box early
on. Not the shy one of the bunch, she always let everyone know how
she felt. Some things never change! She approaches
everything with gusto and is a highly intelligent puppy. She is my
very special puppy girl!
We have started in the show ring
and the field. We are showing in the Bred-By Class even though
Maddy is still very young. In our first weekend of shows at 7
months old, Maddy
WON 2 points! The following weekend was also spectacular because
Maddy won Best Puppy in Sweeps at the Connecticut Valley Vizsla Club Specialty in NJ
- see pictures of both events to the right. Then we moved on to a
spectacular weekend in Harrisburg where Maddy wins a 4 point major and
then goes Reserve Winner's Bitch the following day. Then the next
weekend Maddy wins another 2 points going Best of Winners and Best of
Opposite Sex in Baltimore. Now that Maddy had 8 points, we held
off showing for a while so we could enter a couple of Specialties at the
Nationals as a class bitch in 2006.
UPDATE: Maddy shows
BEAUTIFULLY at the 2006 Nationals WINNING HER BRED-BY CLASS OF
22!! She then goes on to win Reserve Winners Bitch!!
When I first entered the ring for the Bred-By Class I was amazed at the
competition. I knew that we were in very good company! So
winning this class was a true honor! Then to be chosen as Reserve
was a thrill!!
UPDATE: We then moved
briefly to Colorado for a job opportunity where I showed Maddy in a very
large show cluster. She won TWO 4 point majors to finish her
Championship from the Bred-By Class!! One of those wins took us to
a special Best Bred-By competition where Maddy received a Group 4!!
UPDATE: We moved back to
VA and Maddy was entered in the Miami Valley Vizsla Club Specialty in
Ohio. She had not been Specialed so it was just for fun.
Alessandra Folz showed her and was honored with an Award of Merit!!!
Not bad for a young dog first time out!!
In the field, Maddy has been a
pleasure to watch and to train. VERY birdy with an intensity to hunt, Maddy is a
natural. We had to wait for Maddy to be 6 months old to enter a
Hunt Test so our first Hunt Tests will be in March. We really look
forward to those! From the age of only a few weeks old, Maddy has
pointed birds. She also has a very
soft mouth. I am very excited to take her in the field as she gets
older! Maddy completed her Junior Hunter Title with
ease. She passed in 2 weekends going 4 for 4 with very nice
scores. Not bad for a nine month old puppy! Go Maddy!
UPDATE: Maddy earned a NAVHDA Natural Ability Prize II with
99 points at
15 months old! She did an AWESOME job making me so PROUD!
She continues to show considerable talent in the field!! She is
training to be Gun Dog to compete in the next level of hunting
competitions.
In the agility ring, Maddy
earned her Novice Agility Jumpers title in the blink of an eye.
She has
also qualified and placed for Novice Standard.
She is VERY quick in the ring. She shows a lot of potential in the
agility ring!
