Full of spirit! From the day she was born, Trudy was going to let the world know she was here! Her tail typically stuck in the upright position, Trudy is sheer joy.
Trudy’s Story:
(as of March 10,2023)
and now... DC AMATEUR FIELD CHAMPION TRUDY!!
Needing 1 retrieving credit to finish her AFC, Trudy got it the old fashioned way by finishing 2nd in a 16 dog Amateur Limited major stake. She is running so well, good job Trudy!!! Trudy is now my THIRD generation DC AFC following in the footsteps of her mother Hailey and grandmother Maddy!!!
Sept 2022 - NEW DUAL CHAMPION TRUDY!!!
It has been a while since I have updated Trudy’s story in the field!
Trudy ran in the Vizsla Club of America’s National Field Trial in November of 2022. In the Open Championship, she was selected by the judges to be 1 of 6 called back for the second series! She ran for the full hour but unfortunately had a little bird bobble that ended her chance for a placement. BUT, she ran beautifully and am really proud of her!!
Trudy finished her Field Championship in April of 2022 becoming my THIRD generation Dual Champion behind her mother Hailey and grandmother Maddy!! So incedbily proud of her!!! We are one retrieving credit away from her Amateur Field Championship. We hope to get that under our belt soon!!
While showing field potential as a gun dog since she was little, Trudy has since had 32 gun dog placements! In the year of 2021, she was awarded Ohio’s Amatuer Gun Dog of the Year AND Ohio’s Combined Open and Amatuer Gun Dog of the Year!! Trudy ALSO finished #1 nationally defeating more dogs, of any breed, in gun dog stakes than any other vizsla! Lastly, she nationally finished in the top 10 in the Amateur Gun Dog of the Year!!
In the show ring:
Update January 2022:
Trudy is a show champion!!! Thank you to Sarah Luther of Velocity Handling for finishing Trudy’s championship!!
After MANY years in the show ring, I decided it was Trudy’s turn to be escorted in the Bred-By class. I have to admit, there was a little dust that needed to be wiped off my handling skills, but Trudy made it an easy transition back!! As of this update, Trudy won a 4 point major at the Miami Valley Vizsla Club Supported Entry and another 4 points elsewhere. With only a few weekends of showing, we are well on our way to her show Championship and to pursue a Dynata third generation Dual Champion!
Huntington, WV. A nice Best of Breed for us – our first! Staying in the Bred-By class. Very proud!!! We will take some time off now to get ready for the fall field trial!!
Lima, OH. Our FIRST major!!! A four point win at the Miami Valley Vizsla Club Supported Entry from the Bred-By class!!!
Canton, OH. A very nice win from Bred-By going Best of Opposite over Specials and then a GROUP 4 Placement in the Owner Handler Sporting Group!! Our judge did not take live pictures, so we pretend he is standing there 🙂
Canton, OH. While we waited for the Owner Handler Group to begin, we stopped by and watched dogs run in the Farm Dog certification test. Hmmmm, I wonder if Trudy would pass? She was her awesome self and did everything I asked without any practice. I am so PROUD of her – she passed her two runs without any problem!!! AKC pending she now has her FDC!!!
New Castle, PA. After a rainy and very cold weekend, the sun came out and we went Best of Winners from the Bred-By class. It was nice showing outside in the sunshine!!
Marietta, OH. Our FIRST point from the Bred-By class!! It has been a long time since I have been in the show ring and Trudy made it easy. Good girl!!!
In the field
We have had a busy 2021! Trudy is certainly proving herself as a true versatile vizsla!!
In the field:
Trudy is closing in on both her Field Championship and Amateur Field Championship. While not winning the stakes below, she made red dogs proud placing against some highly competitive dogs in all breed stakes on many different grounds on the east coast. With a few things to tighten up in the off season, Trudy will continue competing this spring!
Update as of July 2020: Trudy certainly has proven that she does have a bright future!! Now running as a gun dog, she has placed in almost every stake she has been entered. These placements, both open and amateur, have been in highly competitive all breed large stakes on different grounds. She has earned many points towards her field championships. Good girl Trudy!!!
Trudy has begun running in gun dog stakes. She has a very bright future indeed!!! More to come…
Trudy ran in Puppy/Derby stakes so she could be acclimated to field trialing. She earned all of her juvenile points in the process. Her crowning achievement was an Open Puppy win of 20 dogs in Georgia. She was ranked the national #1 Puppy/Derby dog at the same time her mother was ranked the national #1 Amatuer Gun Dog. She was also the Ohio Runner Up Derby Dog of the Year the same time her mother was the Ohio Open and Amateur Gun Dog of the Year. The apple didn’t fall far from the tree. The judges were very complimentary of her, believing she had a very bright future as a gun dog!
